Can I watch 3D movies on my TV

The whole idea of being able to see three dimensional images on the television is so captivating that this query seems to be on the lips of every entertainment freak today. Though electronic giants like Samsung and Panasonic have launched their saucy new 3D enabled TVs, but the fact is that their rather liberal pricing is enough to blow the daylights of every average earner. But this does not dampen their spirit to chase the third dimension. This is clear from the whopping numbers piled on in the sales charts of these firms. There is, however, another little road block.

3D movies on TV

There is not too much to pick as far as choices of 3D content are concerned. Being a commercially nascent field, there is still some time before the video libraries get filled with a healthy dose of 3D stuff. But technologists are pretty smart, and already there is a well cataloged procedure to use your 3D TV for watching any sort of digital stuff in the third dimension apart from the usual 2D. You would do well to assure that your television set is ready for 3D play, and your instruction manual would be sufficient to get the information from. That done, the major part of the whole conversion process is already attended to! The other equipment is something that you, most probably, would have to buy. This includes the shutter glasses required to see images from the television in 3D, a 3D emitter and a software to convert two dimensional images into their three dimensional versions. Thankfully, manufacturers have started bundling these components into one package, which makes the scavenging task in the market a bit easier. For instance, you could just walk into any Samsung showroom and ask for the Samsung SSG1000 3D Accessory Kit, which includes all the above mentioned enablers. Apart from all these things, you would need a PC, and it is just perfect if the one you have is loaded with a HDMI jack. Once the whole equipment is available, we come to the set up of it all. Firstly, plug the emitter device into the back of the 3D TV in the jack named ’3D Synch Out.’

Once this is done, place the emitter facing towards the couch or the place where you would be sitting. Then, install the software in the computer and connect it to the television through the HDMI cable. Consult your operator manual for the required ports. Now search through the TV menu and select the ’3D MODE’ option. Turn the special shutter glasses on and then create a copy of the DVD file that you wish to play in the PC. Use the installed software to playback the content and select the appropriate options from the software program to switch the playback between 2D and 3D modes. You are all set to experience your favorite movies in 3D format now. One thing to note here is that this is in now way a replacement to genuine 3D content that is available in the market, though in a very limited quantity. But the fact is, nobody complains getting an additional 3D dosage while the producers work on making some dedicated 3-D content. Plus, it is much more ‘value for money’ to be watching 2D movies with a 3D twist on your 3D TV.
