Is 3D TV worth it
Although there is no denying the fact that 3D television viewing had been though about quite a long time back, the actual boom has come only in the past few years. Very honestly, if somebody had suggested you renting a few movies to watch in a three dimensional format at home a decade back, you would not have taken it seriously. However, this is a definite proposition today, with highly sophisticated 3D enabled television sets hitting the high end market.

Research and development teams of leading electronic companies like Samsung, Panasonic and Toshiba have worked diligently for many years to come up with the designs and implementations of 3D televisions. There is no second opinion to the fact that watching the images transcend the television set and take a life-like form, right in one’s living room is amazing and awe-inspiring. But then, modern entertainment has a price tag attached to it. And this invoice talks about many transactions, some obvious and some not so obvious ones. Obviously there is the monetary angle to it. Also, there are health concerns that would demand a careful deliberation from your end. The 3D TV sets are priced at whopping rates, so much so that it is beyond the imagination of the average earner to make a purchase. And the costs are not just for the television set.
The set up of the 3D theatre in your home necessitates other equipment as well. Thus, the costs keep on adding up and eventually, you stare a bill pretty lengthier than the one you anticipated. Those already having a new Blu-ray player need not have any concerns, but those without this device may have to either buy it, or compromise on the quality of the 3D viewing they bring home. There is also the unavoidable cost of the high-tech 3D specialized glasses you will need to buy to be able to extract the 3D pleasure from your television. Though there are some offers of free glasses with some television sets in the market, but the fact is that the manufacturers integrate the costs of the glasses very smartly into the overall package costs. Also, greater the number of family members interested in watching the 3D TV simultaneously, greater the cost of the glasses, as you have no choice but to buy as many pairs. Thankfully, there are some choices available in the stores which might just suit your pocket. We are faced with another little issue here. There is not as much pure three dimensional content available for grabs as one would like. So, you might well be stuck sometimes watching some stuff just because it is 3D, not because it pleases or excites you.
Thankfully, the buzz is catching up and most probably, the coming years would fill the video libraries up with some great three dimensional content. Also, the whole idea of having to wear the peculiar glasses while watching the T.V. does not impress. Coming onto the health concerns associated with 3D television and equipment, it is pertinent to mention that 3D viewing may well lead to conditions like headache, nausea, seizures, etc. Being a rather nascent phenomenon, the complete health risks are not yet cataloged, but there are enough indications that it is not entirely harmless. Children need supervision while watching 3D movies, as the risk of being overwhelmed and getting seizures is severe. Having said all this, the fact remains that the true entertainment freak would undermine all these concerns and still opt for the 3D television, and quite understandably so, as the pleasure of witnessing a 3D spectacle is fascinating indeed.
